Remember Lleyton Hewitt's Racist Tirade at '01 U.S. Open?

the line judge may well have been wrong. lleyton's mistake was bringing up race. perhaps said in the heat of a moment. perhaps regretted. only he knows. but he should also know he is a public figure and what he says in a public forum will be scrutinized. my heart goes out to the line judge. bias or not he was publicly humiliated. glad there's a challenge system at the majors now.

Serena Snapped ten years later and it was all over the media and she was slammed. So I don't agree with the people that believe black people can say whatever they want and get away with it. I can't recall any white linesmen being replaced at a black person's request. And look how this incident has been glossed over, they never mention it. Serena gets asked about her tirade by white reporters at every turn. Hell they wanted her Suspended from the tour. Racism exists people.

Its well known Australians are about 50 years behind the rest of the world when it comes to attitudes towards race and ethnicity

What a nonsense, why is it that everyone can say everything they like about whites and the whites are unable to say anything anymore. It was clearly said in the mids of a game and if you are as focused and eager as Lleyton is then these things can happen...I'm sure it would have been ok if a black person would have said something similar about whites

are you an idiot? the linesman was racist for taking a bias to blake.. i didnt think it was that hard to notice why lleyton got angry, its just the media makes him out to be racist and so now everyone thinks he is.

I remember this and I will never, ever forget it. LH was on my sh!t list from that point on. There is no other player I enjoy watching lose more than Lleyton Hewitt.
