LA Lakers Go Up 2-0 on Orlando in NBA Finals with Game 2 OT Win
The Magic's Courtney Lee had a shot at snagging the a series-tying road win for Orlando at the regulation buzzer and just barely missed the winning... shot to force overtime. In OT Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol shut things down for the Lakers and LA managed to pull off a 101-96 game 2 win to go up 2 games to none in the 2009 NBA Finals. The Finals now head back to Orlando for games 3-4 (the NBA follows a 2-3-2 Finals format) and if, necessary, game 5. more>>

Detroit Red Wings Are Eastern Conference Champs Again After 2-1 Game 5 Win over Chicago
The Red Wings were banged up heading into this game, playing without stars Nicklas Lidstrom and Pavel Datsyuk, but their young talent came through... for them in a big way. Darren Helm was called up from the minors just for the playoffs and performed spectacularly, showing off his artful penalty killing skills and scoring the OT game winner (and series winner) 3:58 into the sudden death period. Usually quiet veteran Dan Clearly got Detroit started with the first goal of the game 6:08 into the third. Chicago's Patrick Kane answered halfway through the 3rd to force OT. more>>

Dirk Nowitzki's Baby Mama Crystal Taylor Talks from Jail
While it's not been confirmed that Dirk Nowitzki is definitely the father of Crystal Taylor's child, it has now been confirmed that she is pregnant.... She signed over permission for the Dallas Morning News to obtain her medical records from the Dallas County jail and Parkland Hospital that showed that she was administered a pregnancy test on May 6 after being booked (after being arrested at Dirk's Dallas home) that was positive. In multiple interviews with the Morning News Crystal (who has many alias and told a judge her birth certificate listed her as Crista Ann Taylor) said she didn't know she was pregnant until the jail administered the test and that her and Dirk had set a July wedding date. Dirk's lawyer responded to the confirmation of Taylor's pregnancy with this statement: "This is all new information to us. We have previously submitted written requests through her Beaumont attorney for an independent pregnancy test as well as authorization for release of medical records. We have yet to receive any response. We would like to reiterate that, if her statements as to her pregnancy are true, Dirk will do whatever can be done to ensure the well-being of the child." more>>

Ortiz Gets First Homer as Bosox Crush Toronto 8-3
Big Papi's dad flew into town to tell his son, hey kid, it can't get any worse right now, so just have fun. The fatherly encouragement seemed to work... as David Ortiz hit one of the 4 homers that the Red Sox sent over the fences in a 6 run 5th inning. Papi said he felt like the "monkey was off his back" as he snapped his longest homerless hitting streak at 150 at-bats. Jason Varitek, Mike Lowell, and Jason Bay also hit HRs for Boston as they soundly beat Toronto 8-3.more>>

2nd half highlights of the Lakers easily putting game 7 away with a 19pt win over Houston to close out their Western Conference Semifinal series. Pau... Gasol lead the Lakers with 21pts and 18rebs as Kobe had a relatively quiet night scoring just 15pts with 7rebds and 5assts. Magic Defeat Celtics in Game 7 101-82 & Advance to East Conf Finals
In the end, the defending Champs went down with out much of a fight. Hedo Turkoglu led the Magic with 25 points & 12 assists as they won game 7... 101-82 and the Eastern Semifinal series 4-3. The Celtics did manage to outscore Orlando for both the 2nd and 3rd quarters but fell disastrously behind in the fourth. The Magic will face Lebron James' Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals beginning Wednesday, May 20. more>>
