Phillips took a leave of absence when his affair with an ESPN production assistant became public. 22-year old Brooke Hundley began harassing Phillips wife and son when he broke the affair off In 1998, Phillips admitted having sex with a Mets employee, who sued for sexual harassment. That case was settled out of court.

The Chicago Cubs pitcher tested a new batting helmet (Model S-100) developed by Rawlings, which is designed to withstand the impact of pitches at speeds of up to 100 mph. Dempster wore it Saturday in the Cubs' 11-4 win over the New York Mets. Dempster admitted the big helmet it did make him a little faster because it forced him to lean forward, but "I felt like a Smurf", he said.

Manager Jerry Manuel said it's "a possibility" Wright could be finished for the season. Team spokesman Jay Horwitz said Wright still had a headache and was suffering "post-concussion symptoms."
