Marlins Take: The Marlins got a superb outing from rookie lefty Sean West, who tossed seven strong innings of one-run ball in just his second Major League start. The offense, though, was held in check by Mets starter Mike Pelfrey and four relievers.

Mets Take: Omir Santos laced a walk-off single in the 11th inning after Gary Sheffield swiped second base and moved to third on a throwing error to give the Mets their fourth straight win. Santos also drove in the Mets' first run with a solo blast.

Santos Hits First Grand Slam in Citi Field

Omir Santos hit the first grand slam in Citi Field history for his first career RBIs, backing a two-hitter by John Maine and three relievers that carried the New York Mets over Florida 7-1 Monday night.

"It's in my memory. That's it," Santos said. "Just the moment." Two days shy of his 28th birthday, Santos is getting playing time because Brian Schneider is on the disabled list with a strained back muscle.

Maine (1-2) won for the first time in four starts this season, allowing only an unearned run and one hit in six innings and lowering his ERA from 7.47 to 5.40. Anibal Sanchez (1-2) got the loss.
