USC Basketball Coach Tim Floyd Resigns Amid More Mayo Recruitment Woes

Trojans men's basketball coach Tim Floyd abruptly resigned late Tuesday night amid allegations that he gave $1,000 of "walking around money" for a Vegas trip to a man who helped encourage star PG OJ Mayo to attend USC. After 4 years leading the SC program, Floyd's submitted a one paragraph letter to AD Mike Garrett at 1pm Tuesday. The Clarion-Ledger of Jackson, Miss., first reported Floyd's resignation. He is from Hattiesburg.

DeMar DeRozan 2009 NBA Draft

He may be the best shooting guard prospect in the draft. At 6'7" with super athleticism you can start to see why teams are getting excited about DeRozan. He turned in a series of strong games down the stretch at USC to help propel them into the Tourney. To the disappointment of many he didn't set the college scene ablaze like his predecessor, OJ Mayo. It's been said DeRozan isn't focused/competitive enough to reach his potential, but he performed well in pressure situations. His huge hands and high hops have people hoping he'll just need time to develop. Hey, even Rudy Gay was seen as a cold fish before he got drafted.
