Scott Walker Sucker Punches Aaron Ward in Game 5

Deadspin.com - Since Walker's one-man fight earned an instigator penalty in the final minutes of the game, he was automatically suspended for one game and his coach was fined $10,000 as mandated by league rules. Except the rule also allows the league to rescind that automatic suspension, which sort of the negates the purpose of the word "automatic." Instead, Ward got a $2,500 fine and will be in the lineup when his team tries to put away Boston at home on tonight.

It's late in the game, the Bruins are ahead 4-0 and the Canes' Walker is looking for trouble. Aaron Ward unfortunately for him seems just to be looking for the game to end. Walker drops his gloves as Ward drops his arms to his side. Walker's right lands and apparently breaks the orbital bone around Ward's eye. NHL "disciplinarian" Colin Campbell apparently thought this was all in the game as Walker avoided any suspension. You agree with that decision.

Ovechkin First to 50 in Bruins @ Caps Massacre

Alex Ovechkin scored his 50th goal of the season last night---closely followed by 51, 52 and 53 -- as the Caps reigned terror on Bruins G Tim Thomas' GAA in a 10-2 bloodbath. In other news, the Caps continued to establish themselves as the unofficial trade-deadline winners as Ex-Canuck Matt Cooke scored his first goal in a Caps uni only 32 seconds into the game and Huet finished with a .909 SV%.
