Chris Osgood made 22 saves in his 15th career playoff shutout (he also picked up an assist on the Wings' second goal for his 5th career playoff point) as Detroit steamrolled Pittsburgh before their home crowd in game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals. The Penguins, who must now return home for game 6 with elimination at their backs, had absolutely no answer for the Wings scoring onslaught. Dan Cleary, Valtteri Filppula, Niklas Kronwall, Brian Rafalski, and Henrik Zetterberg all scored for Detroit. Zetterberg also added an assist and star Center Pavel Datsyuk helped out with 2 in his return from injury.

For 2 periods and about 6 minutes of game 5 of the Western Conference Finals neither the Detroit Red Wings nor the Chicago Blackhawks could get the puck in the net. Then Detroit's Dan Cleary broke the silence for the Red Wings first 6:08 into the third period. Chicago's Patrick Kane would score later in the 3rd to force OT but the Red Wings scored first in OT to win the game, the series, and the Western Conference Championship 4 games to one. They're already up 2 games to none on the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2009 Stanley Cup Finals.

The Red Wings were banged up heading into this game, playing without stars Nicklas Lidstrom and Pavel Datsyuk, but their young talent came through for them in a big way. Darren Helm was called up from the minors just for the playoffs and performed spectacularly, showing off his artful penalty killing skills and scoring the OT game winner (and series winner) 3:58 into the sudden death period. Usually quiet veteran Dan Clearly got Detroit started with the first goal of the game 6:08 into the third. Chicago's Patrick Kane answered halfway through the 3rd to force OT.

Not the best quality video but an awesome look at the Red Wings winning game 7 from the rafters in Joe Louis Arena against the Anaheim Ducks.
Red Wings won it in the 3rd period on a goal by Dan Cleary making the final score 4-3. Detroit heads to the conference finals for the 4rth time since 2002.
Detroit truly is "Hockytown" USA and Journey sounds awesome in any arena.

Game is tied with 22 seconds left. Penguins were coming back from a 5-2 deficit on the Red Wings home turf. The Penguins win in OT in what was called one of the "worst collapses in recent history"
