Ranger Crush Islanders Souls With Game Six Win

Before 1994 came along this was the moment all Ranger fans held near and dear to their hearts. The May 8th Game Six elimination of their hated rivals the New York Islanders in the Semi-Finals of the 1978-79 Stanley Cup Playoffs was a thing of beauty.

Not only did this win at MSG psychologically shatter Islander fans dreams at the time of ever succeeding in the playoffs but it also propelled the Rangers into their first Stanley Cup Finals since 1972.

The Mouth revs up the time machine and treats us to rare footage of the game that is given from the Islander point of view. The game is called by Islander announcers Tim Ryan and Stan Fischler. Both goals the Rangers needed to beat the Isles are shown during the 7 Minutes of rare footage.

You will also get a feel of how electric the Garden crowd was that evening, all in attendance were hoping that the Rangers would take care of business that night so as not to have a Game Seven take place at the hostile Nassau Coliseum.

The Ranger faithful would not be disappointed as the Rangers held on for the 2-1 victory and left in their wake the Islanders and their fans completely devastated as the had to see yet another underachieving playoff result whilst the Rangers headed to the Stanley Cup to play the Montreal Canadiens

The Mouth examines what he likes to call The Tale Of Two Feeds examining one of the most dastardly deeds done to a Ranger EVER. On October 26t, 1987 Dave Brown of the Flyers delivered one of the most brutal crosschecks to the head of Ranger winger Thomas Sandstrom.The Ranger feed which is shown first has announcer John Davidson ready to call the police on Brown for his on ice decapitation attempt. The Second Clip which is the Flyer feed has Philly announcers Gene Hart and Bobby The Chief Taylor saying Sandstrom is not injured and merely Playing Dead. Typical Hart/Taylor bias and Homerism which was prevalent in Flyer broadcasts in the 70s and 80s. Brown received ONLY a 15 game suspension for his guillotine swipe at Sandstrom's neck.

Ranger Crisis # 15 12/16/81 Rangers/Flyers Cheap Shots

The Mouth accidently spills Bosco syrup on to The Time Machine which catapults Ranger Crisis all the way back to December 16th 1981. The game featured is a typical game against the Flyers of that era. Full of bad blood and cheap shots. The fracas begins when Flyers Bob Hoffmeyer pearl harbors Carol Vadnais after a Bill Barber goal on Ranger Goalie Steve Weeks.. A fight breaks out between Ranger Defenseman Tom Laidlaw and Flyers Greg Adams. Ranger enforcer Ed Hospodar no stranger to underhandedness pops 40 goal scorer Bill Barber with a cheap shot in retribution for the Hoffmeyer offense against vadnais to the delight of the MSG crowd.. The Mouth also points out the awful looking Flyers hockey pants , that Philly experimented with at the time.. Demanding that those Cooper-Alls have to go !

The Mouth is riding high after the March 30th 2009 New York Rangers 3-0 MSG shutout over Martin Brodeur and the Newark Devils. His loathing of both the Devils and especially Martha Brodeur is displayed through an attempt at prop comedy.. He also calls for the Rangers to run the table in their remaining games and Ramger fans to form a impenetrable wall of winning. He also dares to call any Ranger fan who boos a Ranger player at home against rivals a TRAITOR. The diluted and semi- sane Mouth even threatens to make offending fans walk the plank.

This episode The Mouth delivers tough dose of love to his fellow Rangers fans as he asks them to man up and stop pointing the blame finger. He even takes to task some of the Ranger throng who believes Henrik Lundquivst has been sub par of late. Another issue he tackles is the piss poor refereeing during the March 29th Pittsburgh Penguin game. The Mouth puts the spotlight on the absurd Colton Orr five minute INTERFERENCE call he got when he plastered Penguins D- man Mark Its Dasher Im Eaton. He even replays the play with Ranger announcer Joe Michalettis gives spot on criticism of the blown call.

The Crisis Time Machine comes unglued and time warps all the way back to October 8th 1960. Featured is a game between the Rangers and Leafs at Maple leaf gardens. This game chock full of Hall of famers as well as Great Rangers of the past. Although the Rangers were predominantly bad through this period ,In this footage an actual Ranger victory on the road is captured. The Mouth of course lends his twisted commentary. Ranger team was comprised of such Blue Shirt greats as Gump Worsley , Harry Howell , Camile Henry and Andy “Spuds” Hebenton. The Toronto Maple Leafs had a stacked team in the 60-61 campaign with greats such as Johnny Bower in Goal ,Frank Mahovlich and Red Kelly.

The Mouth shoots his first remote show semi live outside Madison Square Garden March 24th 2009. The Big man was joined by some fellow Ranger diehards for an impromptu round table surrounding the state of the Rangers . The Blue Shirts beat the Minnesota Wild that night 2-1 . One week away from the camera and The Mouth has got a lot to say about his beloved New York Rangers. He even dares to criticize the architect of Tortorella’s Tyrant’s , Tortorella himself. The Mouth also may have been the victim of blunt force trauma during his one week absences as he calls for more regular shifts by Blair Betts, he also points out a positive and negative in recent Ranger play during his half-crazed observations during the games of March 20th-22nd 2009.

The Mouth also lends his sometimes abrasive but always honest comments during the melees.

The Mouth finds himself initially and surprisingly winded over the weekend of March 14th and 15ths 2009 home and home split against the Flyers. This episode catches The Mouth on a good note at it was shot soon after the Rangers March 15th win at MSG. The Mouth is still concerned about the odd man rush situation the rangers face each night but still remains slap happy about the rangers goal production and emerging PP.
